Holi is the festival that celebrates Spring and all of its glory across India. Holi is synonymous with colour, and up and down the country and among the diaspora worldwide, there is a sense of joy and pure fun that only Holi can bring!! Apart from throwing colours over each other, there is lot of water that is used to mix the colours and spray them all over each other.
When there are people desperate for water in many parts of the world, and statistics that show, around 1.1 billion of the world’s population lacking access to clean water and 2.7 billion people running out of water at least once a month, many feel the guilt and are in the opinion to celebrate water-less Holi.
All that’s fine, but is there a way out?
On the flip side, Holi is also a festival that comes just for a single day every year. So how is it that we can ensure that we celebrate a water filled Holi responsibly?

Here’s top tip for those of you that are playing water-filled Holi, with the requisite colours – massage some oil onto your hair and skin first thing. This way, even when you get covered in colours, they won’t seep into your skin and will wash off easily, with a lot less water used in the process.
