Holi is the festival that celebrates Spring and all of its glory across India. Holi is synonymous with colour, and up and down the country and among the diaspora worldwide, there is a sense of joy and pure fun that only Holi can bring!! Apart from throwing colours over each other, there is lot of water that is used to mix the colours and spray them all over each other.

When there are people desperate for water in many parts of the world, and statistics that show, around 1.1 billion of the world’s population lacking access to clean water and 2.7 billion people running out of water at least once a month, many feel the guilt and are in the opinion to celebrate water-less Holi.

All that’s fine, but is there a way out?

On the flip side, Holi is also a festival that comes just for a single day every year. So how is it that we can ensure that we celebrate a water filled Holi responsibly?

We at WEGoT help our users measure their water consumption on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Once you know the amount of much water you consume daily, you could gradually plan cut down on some liters on a daily basis, which could be used on the day of Holi for a waterful celebration!

Many Residential communities where WEGoT our smart sensors installed, have already started to cut down on certain liters of their water consumption on a daily basis, days ahead of the Holi celebration, so that the amount of water saved is be utilized for a waterful Holi celebration, responsibly. Our residents are able to celebrate a guilt free Holi with adequate amount of water responsibly!

Holi and spring are all about colours, and for all those who want to celebrate waterless Holi, we have some creative ways for you to bring them out – ways.

  • Make colorful food – decorate a doughnut with sprinkles, make rainbow cupcakes – and throw a massive street party.
  • Get your whole neighborhood together and feed the kids and old people who don’t have any and just have a massive picnic together. It is spring for them too!
  • Know what else is full of colours? And nature? Fruits! Make up a whole bunch of fruit juices and lollies and share with your friends.
  • Get the kids of the neighborhood around and set up a Lolly Stand and distribute it to everyone! Healthy AND fun!
  • Play Holi, do keep it a dry one. Use organic colours and natural products, like wild turmeric (kasthuri manjal) for yellow etc, products that will wash off easily and will not harm you.

Here’s top tip for those of you that are playing water-filled Holi, with the requisite colours – massage some oil onto your hair and skin first thing. This way, even when you get covered in colours, they won’t seep into your skin and will wash off easily, with a lot less water used in the process.

Ensuring Responsibility and Sustainability –

It is purely based on the opinion of users to celebrate a waterful / waterless Holi. We at WEGoT make sure the sentiments and celebrations of all religions are kept intact, yet with responsibility.

Wishing everyone a Happy, Safe and Water-filled Holi!!
